Choosing gym floor or garage floor tile

Questions to ask yourself before choosing gym floor or garage floor tile

First, make a list of your expectations:

Comfort:

The comfort depends on the feeling of each one. A high level of comfort is often not felt very clearly, unlike a low level of comfort which is clearly felt.

It is therefore important to think about the undesirable aspects that may arise. For example, a floor that seems hard can be perceived as uncomfortable if you only do gym movements, and conversely as pleasant if you practice weightlifting movements.

Cushioning:

Another important criterion, the cushioning. It will be all the more important that the thickness will also be. The higher the slab, the more cushioning rubber there will be to absorb shocks.

Be careful, the tiles do not all have the same density! We can think of getting a good deal, but end up with something less dense which in the end will not provide as good cushioning as another tile, even less thick. It’s obvious, you can’t get the same quality at low cost as a product at the market price.

Soundproofing:

Reflected noise is disturbing and this is a criterion that can become very important, especially if you live in an apartment or a terraced house. This is sometimes the essential criterion and it is then important to remedy it.

As we said earlier, if you want a maximum level of soundproofing, be sure to choose a coating of significant thickness. To have a significant result, it is necessary to start from 40 mm.

And if this criterion is essential for you, know that we offer very effective complementary solutions, which go beyond the scope of this article (under layers). Contact us directly by email at info@gymandgaragefloor.co.za, we will be happy to help you.

Protection:

Another criterion to take into account: is the protection of your floor. No need to take a thick carpet if you are on a rough cement screed that does not risk anything. A thinner surface may suffice. On the other hand, for tiles, go for something thicker, such as 25 mm or even 40 mm.
