There are several types of gym flooring options available for selection for those who exercise in commercial or home gyms. These floors should be resistant and resilient and at the same time very comfortable to work on.

However, this type of floor is high water-absorbent it can soak quickly, it is suitable for areas not prone to moisture, and it is also low impact absorbent it can damage the subfloor under heavy impacts.

This specific floor is similar to Eva foam and is found suitable for where there is low impact, good for aerobics and such activities.

Wooden Gym Flooring

Wooden Gym flooring though no longer popular in the modern era, is another gym flooring option available. However, for it to be efficient the type of wood required should be very strong to withstand the high impact of modern gym equipment.

Wooden floors are very easy to clean, low water absorbent, and is also a relatively cheap option, and not suitable for a gym with high traffic and heavy impact.

The wooden flooring is difficult to install it requires a skilled person to install it and at the same time can easily crack under heavy impacts.

When using this type of flooring a roll-on mat spread on top is necessary for some activities as it is not comfortable to lay on or under the feet.

Like carpet floors, wooden floors is mostly suitable for light workouts.

Checkered Rubber Flooring

Checkered rubber flooring has a volatile surface that provides users with extra grip and makes the flooring anti-slip. Checkered rubber flooring is suitable for any type of exercise activity, it is durable and resilient

Though no longer common, checkered rubber flooring is one of the best gym floor options. It supports any gym activities be it light exercises or heavy weight lifting, provides relief on the feet and is comfortable to lay on.

Epoxy Gym Flooring

Epoxy flooring is the hardest and strongest flooring very versatile epoxy flooring can be used for various functions, suitable for areas with high traffic such as schools, hospitals, supermarkets, hotels, and also gyms. With epoxy flooring, you are not limited as it is available in different patterns and shades, with epoxy flooring you can personalize your flooring as per your desire.

However, Epoxy floors have a very hard surface, it does not impact absorbent nor is it ant-slip, which makes it not very safe as a gym flooring. Epoxy flooring does not provide users with protection from injuries or shocks in the event of falling.

There are so many different types of flooring options used for gyms. Gym owners are spoilt with choices depending on their preferences, the nature of the gym, and whether it is a commercial or a home gym.
